Dozens of units battle 1,000-square-meter hall fire in Mänttä-Vilppula

A large blaze engulfs a 1,000-square-meter hall on Pajatie in Mänttä-Vilppula, drawing nearly 30 firefighting units on Friday evening, according to YLE. The Pirkanmaa Fire and Rescue Service said a bystander reported the fire was burning along the hall end, and extinguishing work continued through the night.

Hours later, the rescue service reported that the hall remained on fire and that crews were working to contain it, with the last units departing around 1 a.m. The Pajatie site also houses Mänttä-Vilppula's waste disposal facility.

Early Saturday at around 2 a.m., a new alarm followed reports of smoke near the roof edge, indicating rekindling. Firefighters continued with dismantling and extinguishing work, handing the scene over to post-guard at 4 a.m. There were no injuries and the cause is not yet known, with nearly 30 rescue units deployed.
