Film Tampere signed an MoU with the Game Developers Association of India to build business links and knowledge exchange between the Tampere region and Bengaluru, targeting the gaming and audiovisual sectors.

Business Tampere reports that at the India Game Developer Conference in Chennai, Film Tampere signed a memorandum of understanding with the Game Developers Association of India (GDAI) to develop business links and knowledge exchange between the Tampere region and Bengaluru. The agreement targets the gaming and audiovisual sectors. It marks Finland's first regional ecosystem partnership initiative in India and aims to give Tampere-area companies access to Bengaluru's fast-growing tech and games cluster while offering Indian studios pathways into European and Nordic networks.

Program director Fanny Heinonen described the deal as strategic, saying Tampere can act as a bridge between the Nordics and the Indian subcontinent as both industries transform. She highlighted opportunities to build new collaborative narratives across markets. Cooperation areas include localisation of game and audiovisual content, responsible game development and sharing market and cultural insights.

GDAI chief executive Shruti Verma said the MoU will help Indian developers explore new development approaches and expand internationally by combining India's talent with Finland's established gaming ecosystem. Tampere Game Hub will serve as Film Tampere's regional expert partner, and the organisations flagged the Leaderboard gaming conference in Tampere in February 2027 as a key moment for collaboration.

The signing in Chennai included a panel titled "Winning Together in the Global Gaming Markets." The Tampere delegation included companies such as Greener Grass, Red Stage Entertainment and Simucube, which explored market and partnership opportunities in India. Organisers presented the MoU as a response to wider shifts in the global games industry, including AI-driven changes, new business models and funding pressures, and said cross-border cooperation can help studios scale and adapt. They will focus on building ties among companies, accelerators, investors and other stakeholders to turn the agreement into concrete projects and business leads.
