Free family concert and backstage access as Tampere Filharmonia opens doors on 25 April

Tampere Filharmonia invites music lovers of all ages to an open day at Tampere Hall on Saturday 25 April, capped by a free 1 pm orchestra concert. Entry is free.

The City of Tampere says the programme offers a wide look into the city orchestra’s 95-year history: visitors can peek behind the stage, meet players and inspect instruments up close. An audition simulator lets visitors experience a real selection process from the selector’s chair. House tours, a prize wheel and special ticket offers run throughout the day, and children can join activities organised by the cultural cooperative Uulu. A paid Fauni brunch with chamber music starts at 10 am for those who want an early start.

Chief conductor Matthew Halls leads a 45-minute family concert in Tampere Hall’s main auditorium at 1 pm, with a programme that includes the first movement of Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony, John Adams’s Chairman Dances (Foxtrot for orchestra), Jean Sibelius’s Valse Triste and John Williams’s flight theme from E.T. The day finishes at 3 pm.
