Grammy-winner Augustin Hadelich to headline Tampere Filharmonia New Year concert

Tampere Filharmonia will stage a series of high-profile concerts at Tampere Hall from early December into January 2027, featuring international soloists and conductors including Augustin Hadelich, Santtu‑Matias Rouvali, Karita Mattila and Alena Baeva.

The programme opens with the Opera Gala on December 4–5, led by Mikko Franck and featuring Karita Mattila, Tommi Hakala and the Tampere Opera chorus. The evening concludes with Sibelius's Finlandia.

On December 11 a Christmas concert will feature baritone Waltteri Torikka performing Finnish favourites such as Sylvia's Christmas Song, Silent Night, Holy Night and Sleigh Ride.

Season finales on December 17–18 bring honorary conductor Santtu‑Matias Rouvali back to the podium. Violinist Alena Baeva will perform Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, and the programme includes Gustav Mahler's monumental First Symphony, Titan.

The 2027 season opens January 9 with Matthew Halls conducting a New Year concert. Grammy-winner Augustin Hadelich will be spotlighted in Paganini's Fourth Violin Concerto; the programme also includes an overture from The Marriage of Figaro and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Tampere Filharmonia intendant Eija Oravuo said Hadelich's choice of the Paganini concerto highlights his "phenomenal technique, deep expressive power and radiant tone" and noted he is often called a "musician's musician." Tickets and details are available from tamperefilharmonia.fi.

The appearances continue the orchestra's run of international guests, following a Tampere debut by Van Cliburn winner Aristo Sham in September and the announcement of the Opera Gala headliners earlier this month.
