From Näsinneula to Tammelantori: Readers' Favourite Tampere Selfie Spots
Dozens of readers sent in their favourite Tampere selfies to mark the city's birthday; three pairs of movie tickets were drawn for the winners.
"Tampere always looks lovely from above," wrote Lasse Laiho of his high-angle city shot. In a call for birthday photos, Aamulehti received dozens of submissions that show why people love the city.
Submissions ranged from landmark panoramas over Näsijärvi, Pispalanharju and Näsinneula to everyday corners. These included Kauppi's outdoor gym, Tammelantori market and festival crowds outside Hakametsä.
Three pairs of movie tickets went to Sofia Sivula, Marjaana Anttila and Teija Inkiläinen; they were contacted by email.
Contributors also shared short memories with their photos. Jonne Haakana called Eliander beach a place where his "soul rests." Santalahti shared a sunrise moment with a brother. One reader noted the old Lenin Museum's wax cabinet is gone, and the institution now operates as the Museum of East Relations, Notti.
