Funding doubts and failing systems stall Tampereen Työväen Teatteri's search for artistic director
Tampere Workers' Theatre has not yet opened recruitment for a permanent artistic director, leaving dramaturg Hanna Suutela to continue as interim director into September amid funding uncertainty and building problems.

Auvinen said the theatre is giving Suutela room to work. She is handling artistic planning and has taken on personnel leadership for the artistic staff.
The board says it will run an open competition when ready and will not make any secret appointments. Because the theatre receives state subsidies, the selection will follow formal procedures.
The company is preparing a major renovation of its 1985 building, but state funding looks uncertain. Management warns that heating, water and ventilation systems are already failing and that stage machinery is worn out.
Former artistic director Miko Jaakkola, who resigned in spring, will take up the post at Kotka City Theatre later this year and is due to premiere his new production at Kellariteatteri on October 21. Earlier reports said he will begin at Kotka City Theatre in December 2026; the Kotka appointment was announced in April.
