Tampere Missio opens search for new executive director after Helin steps down

Tampere Missio has opened recruitment for a new executive director after longtime leader Matti Helin moves on to new duties, according to Aamulehti.

The new executive will oversee the charity’s civic activities and volunteer programmes. They will be responsible for putting strategy into practice, developing operations, leading staff and managing finances, targets, impact and reporting. Arja Laitinen, the executive director, said the sector faces unusually large change and uncertainty. Tampere Missio wants a leader who combines strategic vision, people-centred management and strong knowledge of the voluntary sector.

Founded 145 years ago, Tampere Missio is one of Pirkanmaa’s largest social organisations, working to promote the wellbeing of young people, families, older adults and people with developmental disabilities. Its projects and civic activities employ more than 20 specialists and involve hundreds of volunteers.
