Grocery Delivery Robots to Serve Nine More Pirkanmaa Towns and Tampere Districts
Pirkanmaan Osuuskauppa will roll out grocery delivery robots this autumn to Ikaalinen, Ruovesi, Urjala, Pälkäne, Vesilahti and four Tampere districts, expanding robot deliveries beyond Tampere and enabling one-hour deliveries up to about 10 km.

This follows a spring expansion that added robot deliveries to 15 stores. Mänttä was the most popular new destination.
Arvi Nieminen, development manager for the chain's online grocery service, says early results show demand beyond Tampere. Both year-round residents and cottage owners have given positive feedback.
From autumn, customers will see all nearby stores in the service. They can choose the fastest delivery, the nearest shop or one with a larger assortment.
One-hour deliveries may extend the robots' operating radius from roughly four kilometres to about 10 kilometres.
Staff have reacted warmly. At Ruovesi's S-market, manager Kirsi Lehtonen says the store expects three robots, held a naming contest for them and is planning a small christening coffee event.
