Fiksuruoka to open Ratina store selling surplus and short‑dated groceries
Fiksuruoka will open a store in Ratina shopping centre on Saturday 7 November at 10:00, selling constantly discounted surplus and short‑dated groceries; about 700 products will be available at launch.
Fiksuruoka will open its first Pirkanmaa store at Ratina shopping centre on Saturday, 7 November, at 10:00, according to Tamperelainen. The shop will sell constantly discounted surplus and short‑dated groceries.
The new outlet sits on a corner of Ratina near the Hatanpään Valtatien exit. Staff and test customers stocked and tried the shop in the days before opening.
About 700 products will be available at launch, rising later to roughly 1,000. Visible price tags show typical discounts of 30–45 percent. Growth director Riku Poutanen says the chain is about 40 percent cheaper than major supermarket chains, based on comparisons with the cheapest offers at Citymarket and Prisma. Pricing is automated and adjusted for slow‑selling items, so the store aims for zero waste. "We sell items even for a cent," Poutanen says. Customers are advised to check best‑before dates, as some items may be close to or past that date.
Fiksuruoka was founded in 2016 as an online seller of clearance lots and has since opened shops in Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo and Turku. It expects about 20,000 customers a month at each store. The Tampere outlet employs around ten people and will hand out 200 surprise bags to early visitors at the opening. The chain plans to expand to Hyvinkää and ultimately build a 10–20 shop network in Finland, while operating abroad under the name Foodello.
