Härmälä shifts pedestrian and cycling routes near Nuolialantie
New pedestrian and cycling routes in Härmälä will open at the end of the month, with crossings and paths shifted near Nuolialantie and Lentokonetehtaankatu.
New pedestrian and cycling routes will come into use in Härmälä at the end of the month. Work along Nuolialantie, from its western end to Lentokonetehtaankatu and the Härmälänoja bridge, is being carried out in phases and is changing how people walk, cycle and drive through the area, Tamperelainen reports.
On Tuesday, crews shifted the north-side driving lane on Nuolialantie slightly south to its final position. At the same time, the pedestrian crossing was moved closer to the Härmälänoja bridge, west of the Valmetinkatu intersection.
The changes follow recent tram construction reroutes and a temporary junction closure for stormwater works.
At the end of October, the work zone will expand to both sides of Lentokonetehtaankatu near the Nuolialantie junction. That will close the north-side pedestrian and cycle route between Lentokonetehtaankatu and Härmälä school and direct walkers and cyclists to the south side. The Nuolialantie crossing will be relocated to Taunonkatu, and the crossing in front of Härmälä school will serve only the route to the bus stop. Those changes take effect on Thursday.
