Helsinginkatu tunnel closed overnight 5–6 May; signed detour in place
The Helsinginkatu tunnel between Hämeenramppi and Kalevanramppi will be closed for maintenance from 21:00 on 5 May until 14:30 on 6 May; traffic will follow a signed detour and delays are expected due to lane restrictions on Kalevanramppi.
Tampere has announced the Helsinginkatu tunnel section between Hämeenramppi and Kalevanramppi will be closed for maintenance from Tuesday 5 May at 21:00 until Wednesday 6 May at 14:30.
Traffic will follow a signed detour via Hämeenramppi, Hämeentie, Savitehtaankatu, Kalevantie and on to Kalevanramppi. The closure affects only the tunnel stretch between the two ramps and is due to reopen in the early afternoon on 6 May.
Kalevanramppi currently operates with just one lane in each direction because the Kupittaan Kärki worksite extends onto the ramp. That restriction is expected to cause severe congestion on the detour, particularly during Wednesday morning rush hour. Expect delays.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible — for example the 110 road (the old Highway 1) — and to allow extra travel time if they must pass through the affected area. Road users should follow temporary signage while maintenance is carried out.
