Kuurilantie Closed 24 Hours in Valkeakoski After Culvert Collapse
Kuurilantie in Valkeakoski is closed for repair after a culvert pipe failed and part of the road collapsed; a signed detour via Lontila and Iittala is in place and can carry heavy vehicles.
Residents and drivers in Valkeakoski must use a detour after Kuurilantie was closed for repair work on Thursday morning. The closure follows yesterday's water erosion collapse. A section of road partly collapsed on Wednesday at Kuurilantie 388, near the border between Pirkanmaa and Kanta‑Hämee, after a rusted steel culvert pipe failed. A temporary fix allowed traffic to pass last night, but crews will now replace the broken pipe. The work is expected to take just over a day, the Southwest Finland Centre for Regional Development's road maintenance project manager Pertti Valo said. Kuurilan village is reachable via a signed detour through Lontila and Iittala, and the route can carry heavy vehicles. YLE reported.
