Hervanta to mark Finland’s 2026 Neighbourhood of the Year with free celebration on 28 August
Hervanta will celebrate being named Finland’s 2026 Neighbourhood of the Year with a free event at Hervanta Leisure Centre on 28 August, including coffee and cake for 300 people, magic, workshops and free tote bags.
Suomen Kotiseutuliitto chose Hervanta as Finland's 2026 Neighbourhood of the Year. The district will mark the honour with a free celebration at Hervanta Leisure Centre on Friday 28 August, Aamulehti reports.
The City of Tampere will provide coffee and cake for 300 people as part of Hervanta Days. Expect close-up magic, character balloons for children and a word-art workshop run by Sanataideyhdistys Yöstäjä ry, which will produce a poem for Hervanta. "Hervanta's strength is its diverse and active community. The area is home to many associations, educational institutions and groups that make Hervanta a place where everyone can find their own way to take part and belong," says Sini Lempinen, neighbourhood development coordinator, in a city press release.
The event will introduce a new meeting-place programme coordinated by Setlementti Tampere. Participating organisations include Kuurosokeat ry's activity centre, A-Kilta and Lujaksi ry. The free celebration runs from 17:00 to 19:00 on 28 August at Hervanta Leisure Centre, Lindforsinkatu 5. Hervanta tote bags will be handed out while supplies last.
