Icy Putajantie Causes Two-Car Collision in Sastamala
A two-car collision on Putajantie in Sastamala at about 4 p.m. left both drivers injured and the road very slippery, with rescue crews warning drivers to take care.
The collision happened at about 4 p.m. on Putajantie when one vehicle slid on an icy surface and struck a car coming the other way. Both vehicles were badly damaged and were moved to the roadside to await towing. Only the drivers were in the cars. Both were taken to hospital, one suffering more serious injuries while the other was assessed as having lighter wounds.
Pirkanmaa Rescue Department said crews would clear and reopen the road soon and warned the stretch at the accident site remains very slippery.
The crash follows other recent collisions on icy regional roads, including an early‑morning crash in Sastamala and a head‑on collision on Turvesuonkatu in Tampere that also left vehicles badly damaged. Tamperelainen reported the incidents.
