Van and Truck Collide on Icy Rajasalmentie in Pirkkala

YLE reported that a van and a truck collided Monday morning on Rajasalmentie in Pirkkala; no one was injured, the rescue department said.

The van began to skid on an icy road surface before striking the truck, on-duty fire chief Sami Lindberg said, adding that the road was slippery and traffic is being funneled past the scene in a single lane.

The crash occurred on the stretch between Pirkkala's Sankila and Nokia's Pitkäniemi and is causing delays for motorists.

The area has seen other recent collisions on the western ring road, including a multi-car crash near the Rajasalmi bridge earlier this month that briefly blocked lanes and caused heavy delays.
