Iiris Oksanen Nets Five Laudaturs, Secures Law Spot in Vaasa
Iiris Oksanen earned laudatur grades in all five matriculation subjects and secured a place to study law in Vaasa, while Tuukka Murtoniemi received his results calmly and plans summer work, military service and later studies.
Tamperelainen reports that in the spring matriculation exam Iiris Oksanen earned laudatur grades in all five subjects, securing a place to study law in Vaasa.
She briefly panicked when the Matriculation Examination Board's website initially showed last autumn's cutoff scores; at 9:30am the figures updated and she discovered she had received laudaturs (L) in all five subjects. "It went really well. I wrote five subjects and got Ls in all of them," she said, adding she was "just like, what?"
The grades mean she can plan a move to her top choice, Vaasa, to study law. Law runs in the family—she could become a fourth-generation lawyer—and she praised Kaleva Upper Secondary School for its supportive atmosphere.
By contrast, Tuukka Murtoniemi checked his results calmly and said he felt relieved. The Nokia resident finished Pyynikki High School in three years. He will do yard work for the town of Nokia over the summer and begin military service in January. He hopes to study business and economics later but first plans to celebrate with relatives and friends.
