Ilves extends sporting director Iikka Miettinen on new 1+1-year contract
Ilves has extended sporting director Iikka Miettinen’s contract by a new 1+1-year deal, using the first option year from his previous 1+2-year agreement; the club says the move aims to steady the organisation and prepare for 2027.
Tampere club Ilves has extended sporting director Iikka Miettinen on a new 1+1-year contract, Aamulehti reports.
The extension uses the first option year from Miettinen’s previous 1+2-year deal signed in December 2025. Ilves chief executive Risto Niklas-Salminen said the aim is to steady the organisation, build a stable base for a revival and give Miettinen clearer scope to shape the squad and drive plans toward the 2027 season.
Miettinen acknowledged the current campaign has been difficult. Results have been poor, he said, but he pointed to long-term work in youth development as a positive. Ilves will reveal more details about other contracts next week.
