Top Czech goaltending prospect Jan Kavan is linked to Ilves for next season, though Kometa Brno denies the move and says he remains under a three-year contract.

Top Czech goaltending prospect Jan Kavan is linked to Ilves for next season, Aamulehti reports. Denik reported the move to Tampere and joining Ilves, but Kometa Brno quickly denied it, stating Kavan has a three-year contract.

Kavan, 20, is among the country's hottest prospects, having become Kometa Brno's youngest-ever goalie when he debuted in the Czech league at 18 in the 2023–24 season. He has appeared in ten games this season and has represented the Czech Republic at the U18 and U20 World Championships. MTV Uutiset reported the transfer saga first in Finland.

Ilves has previously chased several Czech goalies in recent years, including Lukas Dostál, Marek Langhamer, Jakub Málek, and Dominik Pavlát.
