Kesko’s K-Group Sales Up 5.6% in Pirkanmaa as K-Citymarket Drives Q1 Growth
Kesko’s K-group saw untaxed retail sales in Pirkanmaa rise 5.6% to €259.3 million in Q1, led by grocery sales and strong performance at K-Citymarket stores.
Untaxed retail sales in Pirkanmaa rose 5.6% to €259.3 million in January–March, Tamperelainen reported.
Grocery sales led the way at €183.7 million, up 5.9%. Building and technical trade climbed to €36.5 million, a 5.8% increase, while auto and sports retail reached €39.1 million, up 4.2%.
Kesko's Western Finland regional director, Jari Alanen, said all K-food chains posted gains. K-Citymarkets drove much of the growth, and sports retail jumped more than 8% year-on-year, he added.
Kesko is rolling out a series of store refurbishments across the region. Work has been completed at K-Supermarket Virrat, and K-Supermarket Hämeenkyrö is due to finish in May. Renovations at K-Citymarket stores in Nokia and Valkeakoski are scheduled for June. Larger updates are planned for K-Market Tullintori and the Herkkupuoti shop in Hervanta; construction of a new K-Market Sointula in Valkeakoski will begin this summer, and expansion work in Kangasala is expected later in the year.
