Kyrö launches sauna-finished whisky, parks sauna trailer outside Hotel Torni
Kyrö Distillery will park a six-person sauna trailer outside Hotel Torni in Tampere this Saturday to launch a new Sauna Stories whisky that was finished in Monbazillac sweet wine casks inside a sauna.
Tamperelainen reports that a six-person sauna trailer will be parked outside Hotel Torni this Saturday as part of a whisky launch. Kyrö Distillery of Isokyrö is releasing a new Sauna Stories whisky and is launching a sauna-themed European tour in Tampere. It is the tour's only stop in Finland, and activities run from 13:00 to 18:00.
The new release was finished in Monbazillac sweet wine casks inside a sauna. After Tampere the tour moves on to Wittenberg, Nuremberg, Monbazillac, Paris, Brussels, Aalborg and Stockholm.
Kyrö founding partner Mikko Koskinen said the trip inspired them to take a sauna on the road: "Encouraged by this, we decided to take the sauna and visit Monbazillac."
The new bottle is the third in the Sauna Stories series and draws inspiration from the traditional Finnish smoke sauna.
In Tampere, the sauna trailer will run pre-booked sessions at 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00. From 16:00 it will be open for general use.
The pop-up lets visitors sample the sauna-finished whisky in the setting that inspired it, while putting Kyrö's rye spirits on an international stage.
It also builds on Tampere's recent sauna-focused promotion, including the city's sauna lounge at Eurovision and the reopening of the Amuri Museum's public sauna.
