Lakeside cottage sales jump 17% in early 2026 as median price falls to €90,000

Finland’s summer-cottage market warmed early in 2026, with 783 lakeside cottages sold in January–May, up more than 17% from a year earlier. The national median price fell 6% to €90,000, according to Tamperelainen.

Data from the National Land Survey of Finland (Maanmittauslaitos) show clear regional contrasts. Pirkanmaa recorded a sharp median decline of 9.3% to €136,000, and Kanta-Häme also saw prices fall. Uusimaa and Päijät-Häme registered increases, and Uusimaa remains the priciest region with a median of €185,000.

Tampere-level figures highlight volatility. Last year, 20 lakeside cottages on plots under two hectares fetched a median €161,000. For January–May 2026, that category’s median was €100,000, but it is based on just three sales.

The land survey’s data point to a shift online. Thirty percent of transactions were completed electronically during the period, about double the share in 2023, making deals possible regardless of time or place.
