Lempäälä launches municipality-wide talks to cut €1.625 million in staff costs by 2029
Lempäälä will start municipality-wide co-operation negotiations on 12 October to cut €1.625 million in personnel costs by 2029. The savings target equals roughly 30 full-time equivalent positions.
The municipal board approved the move on 5 October, setting a target that equals roughly 30 full-time equivalent positions. The talks will cover all staff and run from 12 October until 23 November, YLE reports.
The municipality plans to rely on retirements, fewer fixed-term contracts, task reorganisations and changes to working methods to reach the target. Dismissals are to be a last resort.
Temporary layoffs will not be used; the aim is permanent savings.
The talks follow similar processes in the region, including Ylöjärvi's recent negotiations and Tampere's restructuring talks, part of wider municipal efforts to cut costs.
