Lines 30 and 31 diverted via Lempääläntie until end of 2026 to ease tram construction disruption
Two busy Tampere bus routes will run detours via Lempääläntie until the end of 2026.
Two busy Tampere bus routes will run detours via Lempääläntie until the end of 2026, Tamperelainen reports. The changes follow tram construction by the Pirkkala–Linnainmaa alliance, which has disrupted schedules, lengthened drivers' working hours and increased passenger dissatisfaction, and continue work begun with earlier centre-line shifts on Nuolialantie and night-time closures that required temporary rerouting this spring.
Lines 30 (Turri–Pyynikintori) and 31 (Partola–Sarankulma–Keskustori) will remain on the Lempääläntie diversion so timetables can be stabilised. Nysse says line 30 will use Lempääläntie on weekdays between 14:30 and 17:00 for the stretch between Tampereen valtatie and Lahdenperänkatu. It will revert to its normal Hatanpään valtatie route at other times. Line 31 will operate all daytime weekday services on Lempääläntie between Lahdenperänkatu and Tampereen valtatie.
Traffic lights installed at the Hatanpään valtatie and Tampereen valtatie junction have improved punctuality, but drive-time analyses show both routes would lose reliability if returned to Hatanpään valtatie on the affected segment. Nysse says the change to line 31 provides clearer, more consistent routing for every trip. Planners expect the Jokikatu–Hatanpään valtatie junction to be open to two-way traffic by the end of 2026, after which the detours will be reassessed.
