South span of Härmälänoja bridge opens as Nuolialantie traffic is rerouted for tram work
Tram construction on Nuolialantie will move to the centre of the road, prompting overnight lane and pedestrian and cycle route changes on 17–18 September. The southern span of the Härmälänoja bridge will open to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists later in September.
Crews are shifting the Pirkkala–Linnainmaa tram construction onto the centre of Nuolialantie for the project’s final phase. This will prompt lane and pedestrian and cycle route changes between Naistenmatkantie and Talvitie overnight on 17–18 September.
The south span of the Härmälänoja bridge at the Tampere–Pirkkala border will open to cars, pedestrians and cyclists in September; the north span opened in autumn 2025. Project manager Sari Valjus said work will now focus on tram overhead wiring and other technical systems, and that the bridge’s finishing touches should be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. Bus stop locations on Nuolialantie will shift and Nysse will publish specific guidance.
Several side streets, including Tuomaankatu, Tierankatu, Matinkatu, Mikonkatu and Lepolantie, are being reopened to vehicle traffic as one-way access routes, while some junctions, including the Kuuselakeskus entrance and residential drives between Talvitie and Lepolantie, will be limited to right turns only. Vehicle traffic will also be routed to run on both sides of the tramway along long stretches of Nuolialantie. Final traffic arrangements along the tram corridor are planned for 2027, and passenger tram service on the Kauppi–Ruotula and Sorin aukio–Partola sections is scheduled to start in August 2028.
