Major water leak drains Keikyä Water Tower in Sastamala
A major water leak drained the Keikyä Water Tower in Sastamala, disrupting drinking water for hundreds of households. A temporary distribution point has been set up in the K-Market Äetsä parking lot.

On Friday, the leak was traced to the Hallitie, Pukkimäentien and Kotipolun feeder lines, leaving homes on these streets without water for a few hours. Elsewhere in Äetsä, water pressure and color may vary for some time, but the situation is stabilizing; Sastamalan Vesi's network chief Marko Naskali said the leak point has been confirmed and the affected area delineated shortly before 3 PM.
Authorities estimate the disruption affected hundreds of households and about 1,000–1,500 residents. At least 600–700 cubic meters of water have already flowed away as a result of emptying the tower, and water is being pumped into the network to maintain some pressure. The incident does not pose environmental damage risks, and no property damage has been reported; the Keikyä Water Tower emptied last about 15 years ago due to gasket failures rather than a network leak, and refilling could take several days with ongoing variations in local water pressure.
