Man not charged after handgun pointed from unmarked police van in Tampere
A man who opened the door of an unmarked police van in Tampere's Villilä in August will not face charges, while the officer who pointed a handgun at him is under investigation for breach of official duty and unlawful threat.
Central Finland Police will not charge the man who opened the door of an unmarked police van in Tampere's Villilä in August, YLE reports.
He had been returning from work when he noticed the parked van and began filming it on his phone. After he opened the door, someone stepped out from behind the front seats and aimed a handgun at him. Police dropped a preliminary investigation into whether he had committed a crime. The officer who pointed the weapon is suspected of breaching official duty and of making an unlawful threat; state prosecutor Tapio Mäkinen is examining the matter.
