Police nab two men after high-speed chase in Tampere

Police spotted a car matching the suspects’ description and attempted to stop it, triggering a rapid pursuit through Tampere that culminated in Petsamo where one man fled on foot and the other was arrested nearby.

Tamperelainen notes that the car fled at high speed after officers recognized it, and the chase crossed into Petsamo before the suspects were detained. The paper adds that authorities seized alpha-PVP and a blade from one suspect, and recovered stolen property from the restaurant that was later returned to its owner. The investigation’s preliminary charges include theft, aggravated endangering traffic safety, firearm-related offenses, possession of an instrument or substance capable of causing serious harm, drug-use offenses, and resisting police. The driver is also suspected of driving without a valid license. Both suspects are adults known to police.
