More than Half of Pirkanmaa Firms Expect Turnover Growth, One-Third to Hire
More than half of companies in the Tampere Chamber of Commerce area expect turnover to rise in the next six months, and 33% say they plan to increase staff.
A survey published in Tamperelainen shows that more than half of companies in the Tampere Chamber of Commerce area expect turnover to increase over the next six months. This stronger confidence echoes recent local data showing rising optimism and easier financing for SMEs in mid-September.
In the chamber’s September survey, 33 percent of local firms said they expect staff numbers to rise, a clear improvement from spring. Most foresee headcount remaining unchanged, and only 9 percent expect cuts. Pirkanmaa’s growth expectations are roughly ten percentage points higher than the national average. Order books are strengthening too: 43 percent say their backlog is larger than a year ago, and about one-third expect further growth in the coming six months.
Jukka Appelqvist, chief economist at the Central Chamber of Commerce, said the firmer mood suggests Finland’s growth phase continued into autumn and may be picking up pace. Markus Sjölund, director of the Tampere Chamber, described the rising confidence as encouraging for new investment and expansion. The regional results are based on responses from 137 companies. The national survey recorded 1,145 respondents and was carried out 15–17 September.
