Aamulehti's Aamupodi podcast questioned whether the introduction and running costs of Tampere’s tram are behind recent steep Nysse ticket rises, alongside other local topics discussed on the episode.

Aamupodi, Aamulehti's Friday podcast, asked whether the introduction and running costs of the tram are behind the steep ticket rises, a question some locals have raised.

It also covered Timo Jutila's decision to stand as a National Coalition Party candidate in the Pirkanmaa constituency for next spring's parliamentary elections, and why so many athletes move into politics.

The panel debated lighter consumer topics too, from shops selling Christmas treats early to whether it's time to switch on seasonal lights. Hosts included Tuukka Välimäki, Enni Mansikkamäki, Jukka Manninen and Juha Karilainen. The podcast is available in the Aamulehti app, Supla, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

For context, Nysse’s 2025 annual report noted some operating costs were above budget largely tied to overruns in the tram alliance order Nyssen’s 2025 annual report. The tram has also been credited with boosting ridership and spurring housing development in Tampere, which supporters say increases long-term demand for public transport coverage of the tram's impact.
