Lentävänniemi Tram Helps Nysse Reach 55.8 Million Journeys in 2025
Passenger journeys on Nysse reached 55.8 million in 2025 after the Lentävänniemi tram opened, and customer satisfaction remained high, the City of Tampere review says.
Passenger journeys topped 55.8 million in 2025 following the launch of the Lentävänniemi tram on 7 January, a City of Tampere review says. New connecting bus lines have bolstered Hiedanranta station as a major transfer hub, and passenger numbers are rising again.
Customer satisfaction was strong: Nysse topped the European BEST survey, with 84 percent of respondents satisfied. The review outlines plans tested last year, including a cost-effective "super bus" concept designed to combine tram-like smoothness with bus flexibility.
Nysse's operating margin finished about €2 million better than budgeted after reductions on routes and at times with low demand. "Growth, customer satisfaction, and financial balance are not mutually exclusive goals—with the right solutions, we can promote them all at the same time," said Mika Periviita, Director of Public Transport.
