Nyssen 2025 Annual Report Published – Growth Continues, Finances Balanced Proactively

Nyssen announced that its 2025 annual report shows continued growth and proactive financial balancing, with 55.8 million journeys recorded in 2025. The release highlights steady ridership growth and the organization’s efforts to balance finances while planning for the year ahead.

The tram service to Lent1venniemi began on January 7, and the new feeder traffic has strengthened Hiedanranta as a major transfer point. The report also notes that Nyssen tops the European BEST study with 84 percent customer satisfaction, underscoring strong performance across services and user experience.

The organization is moving forward with a superbus concept that blends tram-like efficiency with the flexibility of buses in a cost-effective package. On the financial front, the operating result finished about Ø2 million better than budget, aided by targeted reductions in low-demand areas and times. Nyssen concludes that the 2025 results lay a solid foundation for 2026, with growth, customer satisfaction, and financial balance viewed as compatible goals, according to Public Transport Director Mika Periviita.

According to Tamperelainen, the Tampere region’s public transport operator posted a 2.1 million euro operating surplus in 2025, and annual revenues topped the plan by 2.4 million euros, driven by higher fare income, municipal contributions, and Kelan support for school transport tickets, with passenger numbers continuing to rise.

Tamperelainen notes that operating costs were about 0.4 million euros above budget, largely due to overruns in the tram alliance order.

Gross and net investments finished about 0.03 million euros under the plan, financing long-term purchases in ticketing, payments, and information systems.
