Onnibus will introduce eight new Volvo 9700DD double-deck buses in 2026 and nine next-generation VDL Futura FHD3 single-deck buses in 2027, including a premium class, according to Tamperelainen. The eight double-deckers will be assembled in Lieto at Carrus Delta's Finnish factory.
The single-deck VDL Futura buses will have 53 seats in total, with an eight-seat premium section at the front featuring extra legroom, and the premium seating will include features such as extra lumbar support, fabric and vegan leather upholstery, a fold-out table with a cup holder, and a tablet mount. The new Futuras are designed for low consumption and improved cabin ergonomics for both passengers and drivers, according to Onnibus’ CEO Joona Hurmerinta.
Onnibus has tested the premium concept since June 2025 under the Lux Express by OnniBus brand, and the company notes it has already invested about 20 million euros in new rolling stock since 2024. The Helsinki-based operator, founded in 2011, has been part of Koiviston Auto Oy since 2018 and will begin its next-generation single-deck refresh in spring 2027, with the Netherlands as the production site for the new buses.
