Osmonpuisto tree removal and path upgrade planned for next year

Osmonpuisto in central Tampere will see a row of columnar aspens felled next week to make way for housing renovations and upcoming park improvements, Tamperelainen reports. The trees sit between the Annikinkuja walking and cycling path and apartment buildings, and officials say they were planted too close to the boundary and structures. The city also plans to improve Osmonpuisto’s southern edge pedestrian and cycling route next year, with the park’s path plan expected to be published later this year and future plantings to be added on the northern side of the route. The work will cause temporary disruption on the park’s walking and cycling path next week. Separately, on Monday and Tuesday the city will trim lindens on Itsenäisyyskatu in Tammela; arborists will carry out the work and pedestrians may be affected.
