Renovation of Puutarhakatu in Tampere city centre is nearly finished and scheduled for completion by the end of October. Only finishing touches remain.

Earlier traffic changes moved the work zone east of the Puutarhakatu–Aleksis Kiven Street intersection, as stated in the city's March traffic notice.

The reconstruction began in 2025 after underground water and sewer pipes reached the end of their service life. It replaced ageing utilities and reconfigured the roadway. The project added a new two-way cycle path and a one-way carriageway for motor traffic, improved stormwater management and installed a district cooling pipe, and increased greenery while adding new street furniture.

Final tasks include paving the last sections of the bike path, planting, finishing the stonework and installing the remaining street fixtures. Work on Aleksis Kivi Street will continue through October. Tamperelainen reported the progress.
