Outbuilding Gutted by Fire in Lempäälä, Nearby Home Spared
About a 50-square-metre outbuilding was destroyed by a late Saturday fire on Kannistontie in Lempäälä, while a nearby residential building was protected and residents were not exposed to smoke.
Tamperelainen reports that about a 50-square-metre outbuilding was destroyed by a late Saturday fire on Kannistontie in Lempäälä.
Rescue units were alerted just before 10 p.m. and found the building fully alight on arrival. Crews protected a larger residential building about ten metres away and confined the blaze so residents were not exposed to smoke, Pirkanmaa Rescue Department duty fire chief Jari Järvinen said.
The outbuilding contained building materials but no vehicles, gas cylinders or flammable liquids. Firefighters had to clear a large quantity of items from inside, which slowed extinguishing.
Eight units were initially dispatched; final extinguishing required three to four units, with the others released, Järvinen said. The cause has not been confirmed. Investigators suspect an electrical origin after observers found an old wall socket in a partially intact front corner that had been burned and melted out of shape.
