Tampere will host six family-friendly events during the autumn school holiday, ranging from a pet and horse fair at the Tampere Fair and Sports Centre to museum workshops, a forest light trail and a community clothing swap.
Lemmikki Tampere & Horse Event runs on 10–11 October (09:00–17:00) and will feature more than 600 puppies, agility displays, a rabbit show and guest appearances by YouTuber Aino Hyöky, trainer Tommy Wirén and the Seppo goat. Mia Jurvala, project manager at the Tampere Fair and Sports Centre, said the event promises lively, animal-filled fun.
Vapriikki reopens its revamped Finnish Game Museum and will run daily workshops throughout the holiday (10:00–18:00), including a Hama bead workshop, a Tampere 1900s exhibition, sports simulators and a children’s theatre treasure adventure. The Workers’ Museum Werstas will host a free play construction site and weekend guided tours of its steam engine displays; it is open 10–11 and 13–18 October, 11:00–18:00.
Outdoors, the 600-metre Valopolku light trail in Tohloppi runs 9–18 October, 18:00–22:00. Adults pay €5, under-18s enter free, and part of the proceeds will go to the Nature Heritage Foundation. Tallipiha’s Hämärät tunnit evenings will light the yard with thousands of tealights and local art installations on 9–10 and 16–17 October, 18:00–22:00.
A free clothing swap takes place in Tampere Hall’s Sorsapuistosali on 17 October (10:00–16:00), with drop-offs accepted the day before. Around 800 kg of preselected items from a Moro trunk sale will be available; leftovers will be donated to Nextiili and Tampere recycling centres, and Korjaa.se will offer on-site repair and upcycling tips.
