Piemonte Tampere Closes Temporarily Amid Financial Woes

Piemonte, the longtime Tampere restaurant on Suvantokatu, has been temporarily closed this week, according to Aamulehti.

Piemonte has weathered upheavals in its more than a decade of operation. Its backer Le Botti underwent corporate restructuring and ultimately bankruptcy at the end of 2024, forcing the restaurant to close. Ilmari Saarikoski reopened Piemonte in early 2025 under a new entity, Saarikoski-ravintolat. Saarikoski has run Piemonte since 2020, buying the business from Sakari Keinänen, who had led it since 2014. Piemonte was founded by Sami and Anu Lappalainen, known for Gastropub Tuulensuusta. Saarikoski's portfolio also includes Koski at Kauppaseura's premises and Riihi BBQ, which operates seasonally in the Ahlman area. Previous Saarikoski ventures Hella and Huone closed in January 2024; he helped open Bistro Amandea in May 2024 at the same site, but it ceased operations in January 2025. The paper has not been able to reach Ilmari Saarikoski for comment.
