Pirkanmaa Left Alliance Board Member Mika Tammi Faces Removal Over Threats on X
Central Finland Police are investigating threatening messages on X that targeted authorities and politicians. The Pirkanmaa Left Alliance district board has begun formal steps to remove board member Mika Tammi after tabloids identified him as the poster.
YLE reports that Central Finland Police are investigating threatening messages posted on X on Saturday that targeted the police, other authorities and politicians, but say the posts do not currently constitute a concrete threat. They have not disclosed who published the messages.
Finnish tabloids Iltalehti and Ilta-Sanomat name the district board member as Mika Tammi and report some posts included a death threat against Social Affairs and Health Minister Wille Rydman (ps.). Tammi's X account now appears frozen for a rules violation.
Veera Kiretti, chair of the Left Alliance's Pirkanmaa district board, confirmed that formal steps to remove Tammi from the board have begun and condemned violence. Tammi did not respond to requests for comment. He was elected to the district board this year from Vesilahti. The move follows the party's recent candidate announcement.
