Pirkanmaa Left Alliance expels member over death threat against minister Wille Rydman
Mika Tammi was expelled from the Pirkanmaa Left Alliance after social media posts he published included a death threat against Social Affairs and Health Minister Wille Rydman.
Yle reports Mika Tammi was expelled at an extraordinary district meeting today after social media posts included a death threat against Social Affairs and Health Minister Wille Rydman. Tabloids Iltalehti and Ilta-Sanomat reported that posts Tammi published on X in late August contained the threatening language. Central Finland Police are investigating the messages but have not identified who posted them.
The district board says it learned of the posts about a week and a half ago and immediately called the meeting. District chair Veera Kiretti said in a statement, "We do not accept any violence, threats of violence or hate speech." She added that Tammi has not taken part in the district board's or the party's activities this year.
The decision follows the district board's earlier steps to remove Tammi after tabloids identified him as the poster and the call for today's extraordinary meeting to vote on his expulsion.
