Pirkanmaa permits lakeside fireworks for Venetsialaiset but bans them during forest‑fire warnings
Pirkanmaa Rescue Department has authorised lakeside fireworks outside built-up areas on Saturday 29 August for Venetsialaiset from 18:00–24:00, but all fireworks are banned if a forest‑fire warning is in force.
Pirkanmaa Rescue Department has authorised the use of fireworks near waterways outside built-up areas on Saturday 29 August for Venetsialaiset, Tamperelainen reports.
The permit is valid from 18:00 to 24:00 and does not require a separate notification to rescue authorities. It applies only outside urban areas and in the immediate vicinity of waters. If a forest‑fire warning is in force, all fireworks are banned.
Rescue Chief Tytti Oksanen said shooters must take care to avoid personal and property injuries. Fireworks must not be set off in crowds, and safety goggles are mandatory for both operators and spectators. They should be launched from an open, non-flammable site with no buildings or boats nearby, kept at least one kilometre from animal farms and pastures, not handed to anyone under 18 or to intoxicated people, and supervised at all times.
The permit follows a spate of human-caused wildfires in Pirkanmaa that prompted warnings about open fires earlier this year and echoes guidance urging residents to avoid balcony barbecues and other open flames from the lead fire inspector.
