Tori bans certain insect repellents, round birdcages and fortune-telling services
Tori has published an unusual list banning certain insect repellents, round birdcages and fortune‑telling services, separate from Posti's own mailing restrictions; the announcement follows a June terrace fire in Parkano caused by a mosquito repellent.
An unusual list published on Tori's marketplace, reported by Tamperelainen, names certain insect repellents, round birdcages and fortune‑telling services as prohibited. It differs from Posti's separate ban on items that cannot be mailed. The announcement follows a terrace fire in June in Parkano that was caused by a mosquito repellent, highlighting safety concerns.
The company says the restrictions exist for legal, safety and decency reasons and urges users to check the rules before listing. Posti, which maintains its own safety‑driven list, points out that private senders cannot forward some goods, such as perfume, nail polish or barbecue charcoal, even if those items arrive to consumers from retailers by carrier. Both services add that sellers are responsible for ensuring items are transportable; prohibited or unsafe contents can lead to lost postage, return and handling fees, or even disposal under Tori's terms.
Companies advise choosing pickup or an alternative carrier when an item cannot be mailed and checking goods for leaks or remaining fuel. Posti warns that petrol left in lawnmower or chainsaw tanks will make a parcel ineligible for transport, so sellers should confirm equipment is emptied before offering it for sale.
