Pirkanmaa to sell Pitkäniemi hospital campus in Nokia with €15.6m starting price
Pirkanmaa plans to sell the historic Pitkäniemi hospital campus in Nokia as one lot with a starting price of €15,577,000, combining protected hospital buildings and new housing building rights.
The Pitkäniemi hospital area in Nokia, on the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi, is set to be sold as a single lot with a starting price of €15,577,000. The plan appears on the Pirkanmaa welfare area's board agenda for next Monday, Tamperelainen reports.
The sale plot covers roughly 30,500 square metres of gross floor area. It brings together protected historic hospital buildings and new building rights, mostly earmarked for housing on the eastern edge. One block, Block 33, is allocated entirely for new construction.
Most buildings on the site are listed for preservation; only two may be demolished and replaced.
Several premises remain in use. Disability services occupy buildings 70–73, a family support centre operates in building 14, and Voimia runs a dining centre in building 80. The family support building will be sold as part of the package but leased back to the welfare area on a fixed five-year contract.
The sale would be conducted as an open bidding process, so all offers would be public. It is conditional and requires separate final approval before the deed is signed. Officials estimate the transaction could cut the welfare area's annual maintenance costs by about €900,000. The board will decide whether to begin preparations for the sale.
