Ratapihankatu will be closed overnight between Väinölänkatu and Åkerlundinkatu for stormwater pipe installation from 20:00 on Monday 3 August until 06:00 on Tuesday 4 August, Kreate Oy said. The work is part of the Tampere railway yard project.
Traffic controllers will be on site to direct motorists to a temporary detour. The normally one-way stretch between Yliopistonkatu and Pinnikatu will be switched to two-way traffic for the duration of the closure.
Kreate Oy says the night works run across the first week of August, from the evening of Sunday 2 August until the morning of Friday 7 August. Apart from the planned overnight closure on Monday to Tuesday, Ratapihankatu will remain open during the works. At night, a single lane will be in use with traffic control in place.
The traffic arrangements apply only during nighttime work. Daytime traffic is expected to run normally, and pedestrian and bicycle routes will not be affected. Residents should expect typical excavation noise during the nights.
The project is overseen by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (Väylävirasto) and follows earlier phases of the rail yard overhaul, including bridge demolition and night work in April and weekend shutdowns and night work in May–June.
