Salah's Tammela appearance in doubt as Trabzonspor trip sells out
Mohamed Salah's appearance for Trabzonspor at Tammela Stadium on 15 October is uncertain after he was left out of Egypt's squad for a match on artificial turf; KuPS say final confirmation will come when official line-ups are announced.
It remains unclear whether Mohamed Salah will feature at Tammela Stadium on Thursday 15 October. The fixture sold out after demand surged when Trabzonspor signed Salah earlier coverage. His omission from Egypt's squad for a match on artificial turf has raised doubts about his availability for the Tampere game previous report.
Trabzonspor visit Tampere for Kuopion Palloseura’s Conference League group game, but the Egyptian forward's participation is still in doubt. KuPS CEO Tomi Erola said the only way to know is to wait for the official line-ups: "Whether Mohamed Salah plays against us in Tammela will be decided only when the line-ups are announced."
UEFA hosting rules require several stadium changes, Erola said. Organisers must hide all non-UEFA advertising, from covered drink fridges to a Mercedes logo in Tammela's elevator. They also need to meet strict LED lighting standards and install multiple backup power and redundancy systems so every match operation runs to UEFA's requirements. The Trabzonspor fixture is sold out, and KuPS also face Belgium's KAA Gent and Bulgaria's CSKA Sofia in the group, with tickets for those games selling well.
KuPS reached the Conference League knockout stage last season, the first Finnish club to do so, losing just one of six group matches before exiting to Poland's Lech Poznań. "We are pleased to be back in the group stage, but success only makes us hungrier, and we will challenge the bigger teams again," Erola said.
