UEFA has fined Turkish club Trabzonspor €100,000 for fan disturbances at KuPS's UEFA Europa Conference League match at Tammela Stadium in Tampere on 15 October, YLE reports. The incidents included pyrotechnics, the discovery of a small explosive, objects thrown onto the artificial turf and multiple pitch invasions; they led to police fines and stewarding interventions. Trabzonspor had warned supporters before the game to avoid flares and other rule breaches.
UEFA said flares left burn marks on the playing surface and that 13 seats in the visiting section were damaged. One supporter ran onto the pitch carrying a Turkish flag and hugged Trabzonspor goalkeeper Andre Onana before stewards intervened. The governing body imposed an €80,000 fine for pyrotechnics and throwing objects and banned the club from selling tickets to its supporters for the next away fixture in a UEFA club competition. Separate fines of €15,000 for the pitch invasion and €5,000 for damage were also levied, and Trabzonspor must contact KuPS within 30 days to agree compensation for the damaged seats and turf.
KuPS stages its European home matches in Tampere because Kuopio's stadium does not meet UEFA criteria, which is why the incidents took place at Tammela rather than in Kuopio.
