Skanska chosen to renovate Tampere Art Museum after Market Court appeal
Skanska will carry out the Tampere Art Museum renovation after winning a Market Court appeal that prompted the city to cancel its original procurement decision.
Skanska has been chosen as the contractor for the Tampere Art Museum renovation after winning an appeal that led the city to cancel its original procurement decision, YLE reports. The company asked the Market Court to annul the award and to exclude the initially selected firm, Aki Hyrkkönen Oy, arguing it did not meet the tender's suitability requirements. Tampere’s facilities procurement unit issued a correction decision cancelling the original award and concluded that Aki Hyrkkönen Oy did not satisfy the tender’s qualifications. Following a new tender comparison, Skanska was selected. The procurement correction decision is not yet legally binding.
The museum, on the edge of Pyynikintori, will receive a new main building and a full renovation of its historic main building. It will operate from temporary premises in Finlayson during the works. The rebuild was announced in June and is planned as a roughly three-year project costing about €36 million when the city said the museum would close for the works.
