Suoma opens at Tampere Finnish Club with lunch service
A new restaurant named Suoma will open in Tampere's Suomalainen Klub spaces at Puutarhakatu 13, with lunch service starting in April, Aamulehti writes.
The space became available after Lilian restaurant's backer Tamresta Oy was placed in bankruptcy in February.
The owners include Timo Jokinen of Winebar 1910 and Tampinkoski restaurants, chef Petri Peltola, Juha Ala-Korpula of Nina's Kitchen, and media entrepreneur Petri Kaukonen. Jokinen will oversee wine offerings and wine-themed events for next year, while Kaukonen says lunch service will start in April and that weekend evenings featuring stand-up and concerts will begin by May–June, with à la carte options for event nights after Puutarhakatu street renovations are completed in the autumn. The Klub's spaces include a large ballroom and private cabins and are marketed for business lunches and catering as well as Club events. Tampereen Suomalainen Klubi, founded in 1891, historically admitted women in 1906 and is now led by CEO Kirsi Koski.
