Taideratikka Tram Concerts Return to Tampere Line 1 on April 22

Tampereen Raitiotie Oy announced that its Taideratikka pop-up performance series returns on April 22, running on line 1 between Kauppi campus and Pyhällönpuisto and offering performances included with a regular travel ticket. Exact times for each appearance will be posted on the Tampereen Ratikan website and social media a few days before each show.

The spring lineup opens with early music festival Sastamala Gregoriana on April 22–23, bringing baroque, renaissance and medieval repertoire aboard the tram. Wednesday’s session features soprano Aino Peltomaa and jouhikko (traditional Finnish bowed lyre) player Ilkka Heinonen; Thursday showcases violinists Miihkali Kerkkänen and Anthony Marin. For those two days the tram departs Kauppi campus at 10:39 and returns from Pyhällönpuisto at 11:24.

In May the programme spotlights young voices: children's choir Tactus, part of the Pirkanmaa Music Institute (Pirkanmaan musiikkiopisto), performs on May 13 and 20. The children’s choir, led by Emmi Kleemola, presents a varied set that ranges from pop and film music to folk songs and choral works from several countries.

The spring run closes with two poetry sessions from Viitapiiri on June 9 and June 11. Eight writers will take part, mixing more published names and newer voices: Hanna Hysch, Tenho Nuutila, Kati Kristiina, Mirjam Larinkari, Aino-Kaisa Koistinen, Anni Kanniainen, Tiina Poutanen and Kiti Saarinen.

Tampereen Raitiotie Oy produces the Taideratikka shows in cooperation with Pirkanmaan festivaalit ry; the programme has hosted pop-up performances since 2022 and so far featured 31 regional groups. The tram used for the events is marked with Ilai Elias Lehto’s Morottavat metsäneläimet artwork, and the operator reserves the right to make programme changes.
