Tampere Art Tram Returns with Pop-up Jazz, Rap, Theatre and Live Sketching
Tampere’s art tram returns tomorrow with pop-up jazz, rap, theatre and live sketching performances running on tram lines across the city from late September through December.
The season opens with TamJazz, featuring double bass player Janne Reinola and saxophonist Sami Kari. They will play traditional autumnal jazz on tram line 1 on the preceding Tuesday and Thursday, with both sets starting at Kauppi campus at 11:31 and ending at Pyhällönpuisto at 12:17. The tram is wrapped in Maya Hahto’s Ankkaratikka artwork. Look for the ducks along its sides.
Passengers can volunteer to be sketched by visual artist Kaija Pavu on 20 and 22 October. November showcases young talents from Tampere Rap-Akatemia, including Luka Kallio, Deekoo, HVNNES, IsoE and Reson, with performances on 17 and 20 November. The autumn run closes with Teatteri Telakka actors Heidi Kiviharju and Jyrki Mänttäri presenting moments from Carolus Rex on 16 and 18 December.
