Aamulehti reports that Tamk will launch change negotiations in March covering internal research, development and innovation support services and business operations, with up to ten potential redundancies.

The talks will also assess whether services could be delivered in collaboration with Tampere higher education consortium. The staff representative Piri Hiltunen says the news was received in a poor mood: "We won't take such news with joy," he notes. He adds that reorganizations of the TKI support services and business units have been underway since last spring and that staff have already suspected the need for such negotiations. He stresses that the aim is not to shut down activities under negotiation, but to streamline them for production reasons, and that the starting point for negotiators is always that staff should not be reduced. Tamk says its domestic and international business has not been profitable in recent years, citing factors such as weak domestic demand and difficulties for inbound international students. Hiltunen says the employer has indicated a need to find new funding sources and to multiply external funding. The change negotiations are set to begin on March 12.
